The benefits of Meditation.
I am sure you have had about meditation from somewhere. Even the bible alone mentions meditation 23 times. It is more popular with monks, and people who practise yoga. There are different types of mediations. You have to practise a caple of them to get what will be in_sink with you. Before even you start to practise, lets found out what is meditate?
What is meditation
Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.
From the Christian perspective
Christian meditation is a form of prayer in which a structured attempt is made to become aware of and reflect upon the revelations of God. However, Christian meditation is the process of deliberately focusing on specific thoughts (such as a bible passage) and reflecting on their meaning in the context of the love of God.
I brought in the mediation practise in my life after reading and listening to a lot of people talking about it. And how it has benefited them. So I started with 10min a day every morning. i still do 10min every day. The following are benefits i have personal experience.
Benefits of mediating.
Improve your attention span.
After a week of practising meditation, I started to notice my attention span has increased. One day i was at the church service as usual, but there something about me was different. I was more on the presence, which wasn’t the case. My mind was always in between Sunday service proceeding is fill up with thoughts. The chatter in my mind goes on and off. Before i started mediation practise i didnt know i can develop the skill to control my mind.
What amazes me the most is my ability to bring back the focus. Every time thoughts flash into my mind. Quickly brings my attention to the present. Now, I do enjoy sing and sermon in church with my full attention. When thoughts come pop into my mind, I bring back my focus to what is in front of me. I wouldn’t learn to do this if i didnt practise mediation every day. When you do sit down to meditate, you are building up your attention span.
Help with stress relief
I do get anxiety and stress here and there. But ever since i started mediation, I have been able to handle stress quite impress. I can go from being anxious to the calmness of mind. Stress to not stress at all. By using the mediation technique of letting go of your thoughts.
Whenever i am stress on over problems, i cannot control. I let go by focusing my attention back on the action at hand. Every time my thoughts go to what is bothering me i simple bring it back to the present.
Mediation is a powerful skill to learn. I recommend everyone should acquire and practise how to meditate. Happy mediation.
